One such event taking place in Austin over Easter Weekend is the Always Hope Easter Run. This is a local 5K, 10K, and half marathon race taking place here in the city. Always Hope Easter Run hosts these Easter themed races in many big cities, including Austin, so you may have heard the name before. This family friendly event is perfect for all ages who want to run, walk, or even hop their way to the finish line. This is not your typical 5K race that has your time tracked with a race bib but you can always have the coordinators track your time to be posted online if you so wish. The Always Hope Easter Run typically sells out each year in advance of the race, so make sure you register early enough to secure a spot. All participants will get a running t-shirt, finisher’s towel, finisher’s medal, digital training pack, and online results and certification of complication. You can even upgrade your t-shirt to a tech t-shirt for only $5 more. This year’s Always Hope Easter Run will take place on Saturday April 19th in Cedar Park. The first wave of runners will start the race off at 7:30 AM.
Easter Egg Festival
Just ask the kids what they are most excited for this Easter season and they will always tell you the Easter egg hunts. You cannot go wrong with this timeless tradition even when you are away from home. Austin hosts a variety of Easter egg hunts all around the city. The Easter Egg Festival is one such event that is sponsored by the First United Methodist Church here in the city. This exciting event takes place over at Capitol Grounds for a variety of fun. The big activity of the event is the Easter egg hunts geared for young children from infants to preschoolers and the egg races that are geared for elementary school aged kids. This free event will allow them to hunt until they find as many Easter eggs as possible. Additional activities at the event will also include face painting and live games. Participants are encouraged to provide donations that in the past have helped the Capital Area Food Bank and the Austin Diaper Bank. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 19th at the West Capitol Lawn at Capitol Grounds.
Easter Eggstravaganza 2025
If you are visiting Austin the weekend before Easter, you will still have a chance to participate in some local Easter fun. The Greater Austin YMCA will be hosting their annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday April 12th providing plenty of fun for your whole family. This local event has been a favorite for locals and visitors alike that offers plenty of free fun for everyone. Last year’s Easter Eggstravaganza provided two Easter egg hunts for the kids to join in on. Part of the fun is having one of the hunts take place in the YMCA swimming pool! The other hunt is outdoors for a more traditional experience. Additional activities that are expected to return this year include face painting, live games, and much more. Moontower Comedy Festival
Austin is a destination that is known for its live music and festivals taking place in the city. In between the easter events the adults can have a blast over at the Moontower Comedy Festival. This adults-only event brings out some of the biggest names in comedy hitting the stage at a variety of venues around town.
