Food Festivals and Events In Austin This Summer
The summer season kicks off around Memorial Day Weekend and Austin natives know that is exactly when the Hot Luck Festival takes place each year. Hot Luck Fest is a newer event in the Austin area that has been returning stronger each year. The festival is sponsored by the owners of Franklin’s BBQ and Mohawk putting together an inspired line up of food and music related events. This four-day event features individual events across the extended weekend. You will be able to attend food related events where award winning chefs will be on hand with an incredible lineup of tasty food. Franklin BBQ will be hosting the intro event on Thursday 5/22 for tasty food and drinks. Two music events are on the lineup for this year with shows taking place at Mohawk. Catch either The Spits or White Denim depending on which performance you attend. You can get the most of your money by purchasing a “Whole Enchilada Pass” that gets you into all the events over Hot Luck Fest. Some of the events are “Whole Enchilada Pass” exclusives too. This is one of the hottest events of the year in Austin so don’t miss the Hot Luck Fest taking place over Memorial Day Weekend from Thursday 5/22 to Sunday 5/25.
FoodieLand
You will not be surprised when a festival named FoodieLand is a foodie inspired event taking place right here in Austin. FoodieLand is a multicultural food event where you can find cuisine of all origins right here at the Circuit of the Americas. This exciting event takes place over three days where you can find over 185 different food vendors on hand. The Circuit of the Americas is a huge venue that hosts a variety of events over the year and easily has enough room for you to enjoy walking around checking out different vendors. Entry into FoodieLand is only $7 per person with children ages 5 and younger getting in for free. Many of Austin’s favorite food trucks and restaurants will be on hand ready to keep you full. Cuisine on the lineup includes favorite Mexican, Italian, seafood, Chinese, desserts, and so much more. Don’t miss out on FoodieLand taking place in Austin from May 30th through June 1st.
Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival
We always appreciate a little spice here in Austin so spice lovers will rejoice when they see the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival once again returning this year. This is one of the largest hot sauce festivals in the world so naturally it has to take place here in Austin. No matter what restaurant or food truck you find in Austin, you are sure to find plenty of spicy entrees on the menu. The Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival starting out as a small hot sauce contest back in 1990 and has since grown into an event that brings in over 10,000 festival goers. The hot sauce competition remains at the heart of this festival where hundreds of hot sauces are entered into the competition. You will be able to try out some of these incredible concoctions along with purchase hot sauces for sale. This is a great way to purchase a gift for a loved one back at home with an Austin twist. You will also find cookbooks and peppers for sale too to make your own hot sauce back at home.
It would not be a festival without live music so don’t miss out on the many performances. The 2024 festival featured performers including Joe King Carasco, A. Sinclair, Money Chicha, Dale Watson, and many more. The Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival is a major fundraiser that benefits the Central Texas Food Bank and has helped raise over one million meals for those in need. This year’s festival will return again this year near the end of summer in early September over at The Far Out Lounge & Stage.
