The lake is always calling our name especially in the summer when we want a moment to cool off. Luckily Austin has quite a few different watering holes that you can dip your feet into during your Labor Day Weekend visit. Lady Bird Lake is right here in the middle of town and is a hot spot for cool summer fun. With it being so close to Downtown Austin, you will be able to get some incredible views of the cityscape. One of the best ways to do that is by booking a cruise with Capital Cruises or Lone Star Riverboat. They offer daily cruises that will educate you on the area and provide you with an incredible time on Lady Bird Lake.
See the Congress Avenue Bridge Bats
The most famous activity to enjoy over the summer in Austin will always be seeing the Congress Avenue Bridge bats. These nocturnal animals nest below the Congress Avenue Bridge and will take flight at night each day to go feed on pesky insects. Seeing them take flight has become a cultural phenomenon that brings in thousands of views to the area each night. The best viewing areas are all along the bridge, where you can be as close as possible. However, many people will often wait hours at these prime viewing spots, making it difficult to secure one. Relax at the Drive In

Go Tubing
Another great way to cool off over Labor Day Weekend is by going tubing out in the hill country. The San Marcos River is the closest spot where you can relax out in the water from the comfort of a water tube. If you have yet to be tubing out in Austin, you will be in for an experience. The San Marcos River is spring fed, making sure it is always clean and a nice cool temperature to cool off in. You can also make a small road trip if you head out to Comal River or Guadalupe River that are further out of town.
Lone Star Le Mans
During your stay in Austin, you can catch one of the hottest racing events over Labor Day Weekend with the FIA World Endurance Championship, otherwise known as the Lone Star Le Mans. This is a 6-hour endurance race that is the only one of its kind here in the United States. Both the cars and drivers are put to the test to maintain their course out on the Circuit of the Americas.
