Fall Journey to Houston

Travelers near and far flock to the warmer weather of places like Texas throughout the year, especially in the fall months when other locales are significantly cooling down as winter approaches. Once you’ve settled on Texas for your fall respite, point your compass to Houston. There are plenty of fall activities in Houston that will keep you as busy as you like during your stay, whether you spend your time indoors or out.

Day 1:

Entertainment Hot Spots

While some people may go for the chaos of a “fun center,” theme park, or other all-in-one entertainment locale, there are many choices in the Houston area for your entertainment needs. Enjoy museums, theaters for live performances and the latest Hollywood blockbusters, comedy clubs, and more. When the sun goes down, there are a numerous bars, taverns, and clubs offering adults-only entertainment to unwind with after a long day of Houston fun and excitement.

Breweries & Distilleries

Enjoy some adults-only time this falls. Houston is home to several breweries and distilleries. Grab something to eat and wash it down with brews from companies like Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Karbach Brewing, Spindeltap Brewery, and many more. You may even be able to buy some to bring back to your rental to enjoy with your next home-cooked meal.

Spas

Houston in the fall hosts a number of spas and salons offering a myriad of services. Head home relaxed, rejuvenated, and refreshed! Select from services including manicures, pedicures, body wraps or scrubs, a variety of massages, and more. Pamper everyone in the group! Many spas and salons offer men’s services like manicures, pedicures, scalp treatments, and more that cater to “his” unique needs. Select spas even have salons where you can get a new haircut or color or have your makeup done by a pro while also getting an informative lesson to keep up the routine once you are home.

Day 2:

Space Center Houston

Look up into the night sky and all the stars. Light from those stars in the sky indicate galaxies we can only dream of reaching one day. The center features an array of permanent and rotating exhibits, including interactive exhibits. Discover and explore over 400 space artifacts, exhibits, experiences, theaters, and more that depict the United States’ journey to the stars. The center also boasts the world’s largest collection of moon rocks and lunar samples available for public view, so make sure you see them before you leave.

Sightseeing Tours

See the sights of Houston this fall but let someone else do the driving. While you can create and execute your own tour of the city, there are a variety of companies that offer guided tours. You’ll see or stop at some of Houston’s best landmarks, parks, stadiums, and attractions. Choose a tour that hits locations like Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, Market Square, Buffalo Bayou, and many more. Depending on the tour, you can spend just a couple hours, or even the whole day getting to know the town you’ve decided to call home for your fall vacation.

Day 3:

Burke Baker Planetarium

Located at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the planetarium offers a variety of shows and experiences. Experience “Cosmic Collisions,” a look into the power and beauty of celestial forces that continuously shape and reshape our world. Go under the water with “Expedition Reef,” an immersive oceanic safari through the “rainforests of the sea” where you learn about the role of corals, their growth, feeding habits, and more.

Lone Star Flight Museum

Come see some of the most unique, as well as historic aircraft to fly the skies, not only in the U.S., but throughout the world! You’ll explore permanent displays of planes like the Beecraft Honey Bee – a high-wing cantilever monoplane made of all metal. This historic plane never made it to production before the idea was scrapped, and the prototype at the museum is the only one in existence. See the Boeing PT-17 Stearman, the primary trainer craft flown by the U.S. and other Allied nations during World War II. There were over 8,000 of the open-cockpit biplanes produced throughout its production years of 1934-45. You can also learn about the science and history of flight with hands-on exhibits. If you’re as brave as the pilots who took to the sky, you can go up in one of the historic Warbirds on your fall escape.
