Each year, Austin puts on the Pecan Street Festival, formerly known as the Fall Pecan Festival, to highlight this delicious export with a little fun. The Pecan Street Festival continues to be one of the largest and longest running festivals in the country; who knew a pecan could bring so many people in? The Pecan Street Festival is a two-day event taking place in September that brings a whole lot of fun. It is also featured in late spring in May just before summer hits. This festival brings in hundreds of artisans for a giant art festival complete with vendors selling creations made of wood, metal, leather, stone, glass, repurposed materials, and much more. Local food vendors will be on hand to feed you delicious food that previously has included crepes, regional cuisine, smoothies, funnel cakes, and much more. The little ones will have plenty of fun too with a petting zoo, interactive workshops, face painting, street magicians, and more.
