This year’s Halloween is the perfect excuse to come see Austin for the first or tenth time. Take a look at the many ways you will not regret spending your Halloween in Austin with us:

Take a Haunted Tour with Austin Ghosts

Austin is a historic city that has experienced its fair share of hauntings over the years. Austin and Texas as a whole experienced plenty of conflicts early in its founding and this is the backstory to many of the hauntings experienced here in the downtown neighborhood. You can learn all about these incredible stories by booking a haunted tour with Austin Ghosts. This travel tour company has been featured in a variety of news publications and tv shows highlighting their in-depth tours offered throughout the year. Halloween is the perfect time of year to experience their tours for the first time. Each haunted tour offered by them is approximately 70 minutes in length and will have you explore one mile of Downtown Austin at night. You will make between 8 to 13 different stops along the way where your tour guide will explain all of the spooky histories of each building. These tours start at 8:00 PM and occur through all weather. Make sure to book your tours in advance around Halloween as this is a very popular activity. Tickets start at $19 for adults and $12 for children.

Memorial Day in Austin

Why is it that upon unpacking and settling into our vacation abodes, the first words out of our mouths are always “What’s for dinner?” Fortunately for our guests, Austin is a foodie paradise and even though our fully equipped kitchens are anxiously awaiting use, your first night of the long weekend will be better spent enjoying a taste of the town! The unofficial meal of the Memorial Day in Austin holiday is, of course, barbecue, and our town is home to some of the best barbecue joints in the nation! For your first night in town, we recommend a traditional taste of Austin, with a visit to Sam’s Barbecue. Located at 2000 E 12th Street, this barbecue joint is destined to become your newest obsession, unless you are seeking white tablecloths, snooty wait staff, and prices so high you wonder if you will need to take out a loan, that is! Sam’s has been a local tradition since the namesake himself opened its doors all the way back in 1957 and today this simple establishment offers no pretensions or frills. The barbecue is fresh, juicy, and so tender, you will soon understand the words hand-painted on the front of the inauspicious cottage that offers such flavor, informing guests that no teeth are needed to enjoy their meats!

Hot Luck Festival, May 26th Through 29th

A holiday weekend without some sort of special festival is a sad one indeed, one that you won’t even have to contemplate during your Austin getaway as you celebrate at the Hot Luck Festival, held in various places throughout town. Offering live music and hot food, a huge selection of chefs are all gathered together to give you more of what you are craving in the form of a barbecue competition that rewards all that participate with deliciously prepared meats! Make Memorial Day in Austin 2022 the holiday of charred meat as you explore this incredible festival and listen to live music performed by musicians destined to become your new favorites! For all you kids of the 80s and the 90s, you may be excited to hear that DJ Jazzy Jeff is scheduled to perform!

The Reason for Memorial Day in Austin

Generally, we tend to think of Memorial Day as the kickoff to summer adventures, but the underlying reason for this holiday has not been forgotten in Austin. Paying homage to heroes past and present, heroes that have sacrificed everything so we can continue to enjoy the freedoms our beautiful nation provides, is an important part of the celebration and one that can be experienced during your stay. The Memorial Day Service in Lakeway, held in nearby Lakeway, Texas at Emmaus Catholic Church 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road offers a color guard ceremony and the presentation of the Memorial Day Wreath in between speeches made by keynote speakers. Held on May 30th and starting at 10 AM, this ceremony is a beautiful one as is the Annual Memorial Day Celebration held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35 in nearby Pflugerville. This ceremony will take place in the Veterans section of the cemetery and promises to be emotionally fulfilling for all who attend. Both towns are located less than 25 miles away from your Renters Club sanctuary and feature many of the small town amenities that make Texas great!
