While you do not need a reason to come and experience Austin, the beautiful southwest scenery and lively attractions in the area should be more than enough, you will find that the summer events are definitely worthy of a visit. Austin features some incredible summer events that are either annual occasions or brand-new celebrations to enjoy. Both visitors and locals can enjoy these summer events in Austin this year. Take a look at what the top ones are going to be this year in Austin:
The Drop-in Summer Concert Series
Everyone knows that Austin is all about live music and it never disappoints. Just head to Downtown Austin and find a local bar and you are sure to find live music taking place. Each summer Austin hosts the Drop-In Summer Concert Series for a diverse lineup of favorite Austin artists in the area. The event offers free weekly concerts on the Long Center lawn all summer so you can enjoy live music without breaking the bank. The Drop-In Summer Concert Series takes place from May 25th through August 10th.
Paramount Summer Classic Film Series
If you prefer flashing lights and buttery popcorn you may prefer to go watch a movie instead of seeing a live music show. Austin has a summer event for that as well with the Paramount Summer Classic Film Series. Come to the Paramount Theatre each week for a classic film shown on their big screen. You can enjoy a variety of films from comedies to dramas in the way movies were meant to be seen. The Paramount Summer Classic Film Series will take place from May 26th to September 2nd.
Blues on the Green
Come experience one of Austin’s favorite summer traditions by enjoying the Blues on the Green concert series. This free concert series is put on by Austin City Limits Radio and takes place at Zilker Park. You will be able to catch a variety of musical artists for absolutely free. This year’s Blues on the Green will take place on July 18th and July 19th for two whole days of free summer music and fun!
HEB Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks
Each year locals and visitors spread out over Austin to check out one of the local events here in the area. However, you simply cannot pass up the opportunity to enjoy the HEB Austin Symphony July 4th Concert and Fireworks.
