The spring season is full of a few different special occasions that are worthy of getting out and seeing something new. Easter can be one of those reasons for you to see Austin for a wonderful spring getaway. Easter can be an important holiday for some encouraging time with family to celebrate their faith. Many school districts also provide a day off from regular classes to celebrate this holiday. Regardless of how you spend your Easter holiday, you can have the most fun here in Austin. Here are a few different activities and attractions you can expect during Easter in Austin:

ABC Kite Fest

If you happen to visit Austin just before Easter Weekend you can find yourself in town around the time of the ABC Kite Fest. This unique event will take place on April 1st at Zilker Park for a memorable time for all ages. ABC Kite Fest is an all-ages event that has been a family tradition for years. You will find all-day-long activities during this event such as a kite flying contest and Mossfest, a unique children’s music concert. Thousands of Austinites will be at Zilker Park for this free event where you can make a kite and gaze at it flying in the sky. Local sponsors allow this community event to continue year to year. Don’t miss out on the ABC Kite Fest if you are in Austin early for Easter!

Easter Egg Hunts

It will not be a typical Easter holiday without a thrilling egg hunt for you and your family to participate in. Luckily, Austin has quite a few different Easter egg hunts that occur throughout the holiday. Many of the Easter egg hunts occur at local churches in the area. These churches have included Bethany Lutheran, First United Methodist Church Austin, and Riverbend Church. Other organizations that also host Easter egg hunts in the city have included Oak Hill Fire Department and Huston Tillotson Community Center. Each of these egg hunts occurs the Saturday or Sunday of Easter Weekend so you can find an egg hunt that works out for your schedule. Expect these free events to be welcoming and offer your children an exciting way to spend their holiday together. Perhaps the biggest and most exciting Easter egg hunt that happens each year is the one held at the Austin Zoo. Nothing is more exciting than hunting for Easter egg eggs as your family searches around the Austin Zoo with exciting animal exhibits nearby. This event will take place on Saturday April 8th with check-in at 8:30 AM. This Easter egg hunt requires registration beforehand to participate in the fun. All you need to do is to bring your Easter basket so your children can find all the eggs they can muster. There is a Little Hunters area that is designed for children ages 3 and younger. Registration for this year’s event will open soon; call the Austin Zoo for any questions by dialing 512-288-1490.

Another great way to enjoy your Easter weekend is by finding an Easter brunch nearby.
