One of the most popular 4th of July events that takes place each year in Austin is the annual HEB Austin Symphony July 4th Concert. This annual event draws in 100,000 people each year to the Auditorium Shores for a patriotic and classical rendition of your favorite 4th of July themes and songs. The Auditorium Shores of Long Center for the Performing Arts is a large grassy area so make sure to bring some lawn chairs and a picnic basket so you can enjoy the event in comfort. Additional areas to watch the event include from Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge, Congress Bridge, and South First Street Bridge. The event ends at 8:30 pm when the annual fireworks show lights up the sky above you for an hour-long showcase. You can grab a boat, kayak, or canoe rental and see the incredible display of lights from Lady Bird Lake. This event is always a local favorite so make sure to arrive early and find the best spot for your viewing pleasure.

Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Festival

Austin is in an area of Texas called Hill Country due to the rolling hills surrounding the region. You will find that Hill Country Galleria, a popular shopping and social destination in the city, to be appropriately named. This shopping gallery features their annual Independence Day Festival that features a variety of exciting activities including dining, live music, backyard games, and their own fireworks display. This event will run from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on the 4th of July and will feature over 60 different art vendors too. Make sure to show up a little early so you can browse the different boutique stores before joining in on the fun.

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic

One of the Austin’s biggest celebrities is Willie Nelson himself. This historic musician calls Austin home and hosts his annual Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic at the Circuit of the Americas. This racing track hosts Willie Nelson’s bands and a few of his famous musician friends for an event like no other. This year’s event will be more special than usual as it marks the 50th anniversary of the event! This year’s lineup includes Willie and his Family Band along with Shakey Graves, Tyler Childers, Dwight Yoakam, Shane Smith, and many more. This year’s event will also find it taking place at the Q2 Stadium instead of the usual Circuit of the Americas. Lakeway 4th of July Parade

Our vacation rentals can also be in the surrounding communities of the hill country too. Many of our properties are not too far away from Lakeway, Texas. This nearby community hosts their Independence Day annual event that includes a festive parade and more. Guests will find the parade starting at 8:30 am on the 4th of July at the Live Oak Golf Course that will make its way to Lakeway Activity Center.  After the event guests can enjoy the hot dog lunch, Pageantry of Flags program, live music, and other fun activities. There is also swimming at the Lakeway Swim Center from noon to 8:00 pm that day too. The fireworks will end the event at dusk so make sure to stick around for those. This event is perfect for those wanting to spend their 4th of July away from the busy festivities near Downtown Austin.

See the Bats at Congress Avenue Bridge
